The Story is in the Details
I’m often inspired by the smallest details. The way light catches a particle floating through the air, the glow of an ember that has escaped containment, the ripples from a raindrop on a puddle. Details. In a world full of mass produced items, it’s no wonder the details that come with a handcrafted item cause a yearning to look closer.
Leather has always captured my attention. Whether it’s a vintage club chair from the 20’s, a turn of the century doctor’s tool bag or a handle on an old trunk, the story is never the same. Each piece carries the evidence of its unique path. And, just like it’s path, each piece of leather is unique from the beginning. Before the hide is cut, sewn, shaped...it has its own texture, markings, color and weight. Details.
We are growing tired of the same old factory pressed, carbon copy, flimsy “leather goods”. We all have our own path, our own story. Our leather goods should accompany us on this journey and bear the marks. They should be as unique as we are. They should have a story, because the story is in the details.
